This is one of the best sci-fi creations of it’s time. A terrifying alien that not only has an extending snapping double mouth, but it has acid for blood. That is pretty cool and Ridley Scott and the effects team did a great job. The Xenomorph is scary and an alien creation from our worst nightmares. It has also become iconic, you can see that creature and instantly you relate it to the “Alien” movies.
Another cool aspect is the trilobites that are basically the parasitic spider-like things that attach themselves to a host’s face and implant a little Xenomorph into the chest cavity of the victim. These things are creepy in themselves. They also have acidic blood and attach themselves through a suction cup thing as they wrap their arms around your head.
I also want to yelp a little bit about the movie “Prometheus” I personally love this movie. So what if it didn’t line up exactly as a prequel to aliens. It was a cool movie in its own right. The movie has depth that makes it a great dark sci-fi movie. The whole story of the engineers is really cool. I know that there has been some backlash from “Alien” fans that say that the movie didn’t stay true to form and it didn’t have enough connection to the “Alien” series.
I think this is a little silly. We got a really cool series that can stand alone, so what if it didn’t create a linear story line with the older “Alien” movies. Anyway it looks like hardcore “Alien” fans will get their wish because it looks like the movie studio making “Prometheus 2” caved to popular opinion and they’re making the sequel “more Alien-y”
Personally I’d rather have a second really cool Ridley Scott sci-fi series than have a movie that has stood up well to the test of time (Alien) re-hashed and change the idea behind Prometheus to fit into that series.
Horror Question of the Day: What do you guys think… Should “Prometheus” be it’s own series independant of the “Alien” universe, or should they try and change the “Prometheus” series storyline to better fit in the “Alien” mold?
