THE HAUNTING OF DUDLEY TOWN

Alright so I’m going back to my time as an amature ghost hunter for another post. I’ve received a lot of feedback about my two “Paranormal Investigator” posts below. Everyone is basically asking me the same thing. Okay so you’ve told us some funny stuff that happened, but did you guys ever see a real ghost?

My answer is -- Maybe. We had some pretty spooky experiences. If any of you know the story of Dudley Town then you know what I’m talking about. Dudley Town is a place up in the Northwest hills of Connecticut. I originally heard about Dudley Town at a Warrens’ seminar. Ed and Lorraine Warren are Connecticut's most famous paranormal investigators. They are also the subject of the horror movie “The Conjuring”. So anyway they told everyone at the seminar about Dudley Town. Lots of paranormal activity there with floating orbs, mysterious voices, think the “Blair Witch Project.” Many people claim the woods become strangely silent -- the birds and squirrels won’t go in there.

Dudley Town was a settlement in the 1700’s back when there used to be mining in Connecticut. A small town was built on the side of Dark Entry Forest. Which is actually attached to Woodbury Mountain I believe. Anyway the people in the town were fine until some environmental factor, the water, the soil something made a bunch of people go crazy. A bunch of people were killed and supposedly a rich doctor had come home from NYC and found that his wife went crazy and had gruesomely murdered their baby. It’s an awful story. So the doctor and townspeople abandoned the town and now if you go up there it’s just a bunch of stone foundations.

So of course being the brain surgeon’s we were back then we decided we wanted to go there and bring along a Ouija Board. We waited for nightfall (another superb choice) and while hiking through the woods we stumbled upon another Ouija Board made of plywood with scrawled satanic writing on it. We built a small fire and two girls in the middle of the dark, in the middle of the woods, started using the Ouija Board (really smart choice). So supposedly it starts working... who knows. We’re all sitting there laughing and having a great old time and we hear a real low pitch roar “Get Out!!!” needless to say that we all lost our shit and ran as fast as we could through the woods in the dark. It took us a long long time to find the car. Imagine six idiots sprinting through the woods in the pitch black smacking into hundred year old oaks… yup not smart.

So a year later we’re thinking all is well…. But one of the girls who was using the Ouija Board ended up with Cervical Cancer. Come to find out she was sitting on the plywood satanic Ouija Board. Coincidence? Maybe.

The lesson I learned is don’t tempt the fates!

I've been to Gettysburg which is suposedly haunted. All I saw was a dude with a metal detector and he kept finding bottlecaps

We stopped at the Peach Orchard site on Gettysburg battleground--a place where no one can get a decent picture. I aimed my camera, took the shot, and --nothing but white. I then whispered, "Come on, guys, give a girl a break!" My next picture came out fine. My camera has never done that before, and it hasn't done it since.

Ok! So I'll start. In the mid-90's before I was married I was what you could call an "indentured servant" (yes you read that right) on an old farm in south Stafford in the White Oak area. The house I lived and worked in started out as a one bedroom timber cabin that dated to the early to mid -1700's. I was already told it was haunted but hadn't experienced anything during the summer months. It wasn't until October when the vale was thinnest that it happened. I had picked up a job at a restaurant/bar in downtown Fredericksburg and didn't get in until the wee hours around 3 a.m. I made a samitch and was making my way through the middle of the house which was the original cabin. in fact the rooms drywall was secured to the very logs. The house was dark and the owners were in bed. That I knew for sure. I also knew that no one else was home. As I walked through that middle room I'd say about mid-way (it wasn't very large of course) I bumped into someone, said "excuse me" and took the last three or four more steps to the other side which led to the t.v. room. As I reached that door that's when it hit me (I was a bit tired) I was alone in that room! But sure enough my shoulder came into solid contact with SOMETHING and it wasn't furniture. It was pitch black in that house. Now in those days I had some pretty darn good night vision so I just hauled ass up the stairs to my room. Once inside with a light on I was a bit giddy. That was my first solid contact. In that part of the house it always stayed freezing cold in the winter so I had a kerosene heater to keep warm. I filled it up, set the wick and cracked the window and door for ventilation and settled in. A few minutes after closing my eyes I felt myself going into a deep comfortable sleep.... except for the extreme pressure building on my chest that seemed to be pushing my very soul right through the bed! Now I've nearly drowned before as a kid and it's a lot like that. You know which way you gotta go but the energy to get there is fleeting fast. I managed to open my eyes and in the dim kerosene light hovering inches above me is a thick black mass or cloud if you will. In the milliseconds it took me to register that I was in fact being attacked I acted. With the little strength I had I through as much weight as I could into a single punch which in effect sat me straight up. I still remember vividly seeing my fist and arm passing through this dense cloud and watching what seemed like jade green sparks or flame emanating from my very skin! Heart racing, eyes wide this thing retreated at once into the wall beside me. this whole time there no sound, dead silence except for my heart beating in its cage. Five minutes, ten, twenty minutes went by and nothing. Threat gone and too tired to examine what had just happened I went to sleep. I didn't realize the full extent of that encounter until a few hours later when I awoke to a nasty taste in my mouth. I opened my eyes to find the entire room was covered in black soot. The door and window I cracked? Closed tight. The wick that I carefully set on the kerosene heater? Turned all the way up! I grew up with those things and knew all to well the dangers of not setting them up properly. . With as much sot as there was in that small room I should not be here today to tell this story. So take to heart, ghost hunting isn't a care free game that t.v. makes it out to be. Its dangerous and hunters really can lose their lives.

This is why I won't touch a Ouija board. You don't know what you are summoning--and if it's a demon, it sure isn't going to tell you so.

One day I was in a barn in the woods. I looked out the window and could see the neighbors house. In the window of that house I saw a white figure. It had a white head a white face and a white body, it wasn't human. When I left the barn and walked toward the house and looked up, it was gone. As I started to walk home I turned and looked back and saw the white figure again and the face turned black, just the face the rest staid white. It was scary as hell, I ran all the way home and wouldn't even walk past that house for years.

Once when I was like twelve years old I kept crank calling this old lady. This was long before caller I.D. I kept calling her up everyday and asking if Charly Manson was there (I know it's stupid). I would call every day for like two weeks after I got home from school. I'd call up and ask for Charlie and she'd say "No you have the wrong number" every day she'd get a little more mad and she said someday something bad's gonna happen to you. On the last day I called I said "Is Charlie Manson there" and she answered me in a crazy witch voice "No, but Samantha is!" I was scared shitless. That's the closest I've ever come to a haunted place.
